Tempi Verbali e Grammatica d’Esame:

1. Presente: Abitudini, Verità e Trend

Present Simple

Fatti permanenti e routine. Fondamentale nello Speaking Part 1.

Markers: Always, usually, often, every day.

“Global warming affects biodiversity in unprecedented ways.”

Present Continuous

Azioni in corso o trend temporanei. Essenziale per il Task 1 (Dati).

Markers: Currently, at the moment, now.

“The number of remote workers is increasing steadily.”

2. Narrazione Avanzata: Past Perfect

“The meeting had already started by the time I arrived.”

Past Perfect Continuous

“They had been negotiating for months before signing the deal.”

3. Forma Passiva: Il Registro Formale

Il passivo sposta l’attenzione dall’agente all’oggetto dell’azione.

  • IELTS Task 1 Processi: “The data is collected and then analyzed.”
  • Task 2 Essays: “It is often argued that urbanization leads to stress.”

4. Conditionals: Dalla Realtà all’Ipotesi

I periodi ipotetici permettono di esprimere possibilità, rimpianti e analisi teoriche. Ecco lo schema completo richiesto dagli esaminatori:

TipoStruttura (If clause + Main clause)Funzione Comunicativa
ZeroPresent Simple + Present SimpleVerità scientifiche e fatti certi.
FirstPresent Simple + Will + FormabasePossibilità reali nel futuro.
SecondPast Simple + Would + FormabaseSituazioni ipotetiche/improbabili nel presente.
ThirdPast Perfect + Would have + P. PassatoIpotesi su un passato che non può cambiare.

First Conditional (B1/B2)

Usalo per parlare di conseguenze probabili.

“If the company invests in AI, it will gain a competitive edge.”

Second Conditional (B2)

Usalo per consigli o scenari immaginari.

“If I were the CEO, I would prioritize sustainability.”

Mixed Conditionals (C1/C2 Elite)

“If I had taken that job offer last year, I would be living in London now.”

5. Futuro: Previsioni e Piani

Future Continuous

Azione in corso in un punto futuro. “This time tomorrow, I will be celebrating.”

Future Perfect

Azione completata entro un tempo futuro. “I will have finished the project by Friday.”

⚠️ Common Pitfalls: State Verbs

Verbi come know, believe, understand, belong non accettano la forma progressiva (-ing). Usarli correttamente è fondamentale per il punteggio B2/C1.

Corretto: “I understand the logic.” | Sbagliato: “I am understanding the logic.”
